Pattullo Bridge closed northbound for four nights
Closures necessary for expansion joint installation on new bridge
NEW WESTMINSTER, BC – The Pattullo Bridge will be closed to northbound vehicle traffic for four nights due to ongoing construction work for the Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project. The closures will take place overnight on the following dates:
- Thursday, June 26 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.)
- Friday, June 27 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.)
- Wednesday, July 2 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.)
- Thursday, July 3 (9 p.m. to 5 a.m.)
Southbound travel into Surrey will not be affected. The bridge will also remain open northbound for pedestrians, cyclists, and first responders.
These closures are needed to safely install an expansion joint connecting the new bridge deck to the bridge approach in Surrey. Construction equipment will be positioned near both northbound lanes on the existing bridge, making a full closure necessary.
Northbound Pattullo Bridge users are encouraged to take the Port Mann or Alex Fraser bridges as alternatives. N19 NightBus trips affected by the directional closure will be rerouted over the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges between New Westminster and Scott Road stations.
There will be signage to indicate all traffic pattern changes and traffic control personnel will be on-site. Rerouted drivers and transit users should plan for up to 30 minutes of additional travel time. Customers are encouraged to check Transit Alerts and use Trip Planner for more information.
